Around the Block 2

I made this block for Becky ages ago

and half made this one....

Which was going to plan execpt that I had run out of white for the corner blocks...I was debating about sending it half finished and Becky didn't seem to mind when I asked her but it didn't seem right to be sending a half finished block.
Then the school hoildays arrived and I finally found time some time to sew so after re-reading Becky's instructions I saw that she wouldn't mind if we added some pink/green fabrics of our own so I found some pick and added the corner squares.

Looking good!

But then I laid it next to the other quilt block....uh oh...disaster!


Somehow my calculations are all out of whack... this is terrible..I'm so mad at myself!! So after wondering how the hell I'm going to fixed it and deciding that I can't...and with no fabric left to make another block I decided to make Possum a little pillow to go with her quilt when Becky gets all the blocks back. (it is a perfect size '14' Pillow insert from Spotlight)


I'm really sorry Becky and I hope this is OK with you and Possum as this was the best solution I could come up with.

{3rd Birthday} Octonauts party

It has been a week two weeks since Aden's Octonauts party and I think I have recovered enough to post about it. Special thanks to my sister for gabbing my camera and my MIL and SIL for their cameras, as I didn't take any all day! Aden is a massive Octonauts fan! So when he didn't go for my initial plan of a 'Monsters' Party ( too scary Mummy!) we decided on Octonauts. I did a lot of Internet searching and looking at a lot of Pintrest posts to gather all my ideas together.  There was lots of party food including Octonaut Cupcakes. Cake toppers from Ebay  And a Kwazii cake as requested by the birthday boy! I totally forgot to put on the Octopus I had for his hat!! We also had yellow/green/blue jelly cups with turtles in them and smarties cookies. As well as regular party food and hot finger food for the adults. Mummy wiping Aden's face before having cake photos! We had balloons, a birthday banner and streamers.

All you have to do is share a quilt you have made! I'm going to share this quilt.... from a pattern yes but I loved making it! Choosing the fabrics was fun...playing with colours mixing them up...changing my mind...I tried to be true to life but it ws hard with the bright fabrics... I had a border dilema that was fixed by some helpful friends! Progress pic... All the animals finished Of course it helps to love a quilt when your making it for a very special little girl! I'm keen to make this one again...just to play with the fabrics!!
