{Twenty-eight} Inspiration

Image
While at the Craft and Quilting Fair last weekend there were many different and beautiful quitls on display. I didn't spend as much time as I would have liked admiring them. I took some photos on my phone so I could share some of my favourites here with you!  First up are quilts by people I actually know! I spotted Carmel's Snakes and Ladders quilt hanging in the Australian Homespun Magazine stand. She blogs at Solomon Sewing.  And there right beside it was this stunning Rocket quilt. It was a lovely surprise to see Gillian the quilt designer and maker sitting at the stall with her machine busily sewing away. Gillian and I met at a Kellie Wulfsohn weekend sewing workshop last year. It was lovely to chat to her again and hopefully it won't be as long this time before we catch up again. She blogs at Red Raspberry Then there was the STUNNING 'Travelling Friendship Quilt'. This quilt is massive but so wonderful in the story it tells in each and every block

{Twenty-six} Blogger’s Quilt Festival :: Fall 2012

Image
    Here is my entry for the Blogger's Quilt Festival hosted my Amy It's a simple Disappearing 9-patch.       Just perfect for playing hide-and-seek in!     There is not much of a 'story to this quilt, but I love the colours and the overall finish of it. It came about at the suggestion of making a 'Rainy-day' Quilt. These fabrics were in my stash and were perfect for the job!   With simple stipple quilting in light aqua thread, it is a lovely quilt to snuggle under and a perfect  baby play quilt for a boy without being too babyish.     Blogger’s Quilt Festival Stats Finished quilt measures : 52" x 68" Special techniques used : None...sweet and simple! Machine pieced and quilted by : me Best Category : Favorite Home Machine Quilted Quilt, Favorite Throw Quilt, Favorite Baby Quilt      This quilt doesn't have a new home yet....let my know if you are interested in having it at your place!

{twenty-three} Sweet drawings

Image
Aden has never really liked to draw very much. He doesn't mind painting but drawings have always been just scribbles....until now! Last night after dinner while Hubby and I finished eating Aden asked to use his Transformers scrapbook that I'd bought him from the Craft Fair. (He should have got it the night before but he didn't finish all his dinner so he had to wait to try it out) He sat down beside us and with me asking him questions, Do you think the turtle needs legs? What colour is Mummy's hair?...etc. He produced 3 very recognisable drawings! I'm so proud....even though Mummy's glasses only have 1 lens and Daddy has a mono-brow!

I think this is called a stash....   I don't dare complain....as that means I can fabric shop without getting in trouble! And it keeps both boys busy so I can sew! This lot should keep them busy for a LONG time! {twenty-one} QLD Craft and Quilt Fair

Image
  This is the new additions that my Mum and sister and I came away with after spending most of the day at the Craft and Quilt Fair I was a little surprised at the $17 entry fee, as last time I went only a few years ago I think it was $10. Mum invited me along to help her pick out a new machine. She was going to get the newer version of my machine which is now 3 years old. But decided that she didn't really need all the extra stitches for the type of sewing she is going to do, so went with the Sapphire 835 I'm looking forward to having 'sewing' visits now that I can use her machine rather than the cheap chunker that she was using! Here is what I bought....   Eiffel Tower chipboard's for scrap booking - $3 & $6 Pointy tweezers (buy 1 get 1 free, so hubby can have one for his models) - $17 'Doll' tweezers - $4 Machine needles - $6 Hand quilting needles - $7 Washi Tape x 2- $6 Sequins x 5 - $1 Transformers Scrapbook - $1 Christmas stickers

{nineteen} MS Moonlight walk

I went in my first charity walk this week. The MS Moonlight Walk raises money for people living with MS. Before What is MS? MS stands for multiple sclerosis, a disease of the central nervous system affecting more young adult Australians than any other neurological condition. Who gets MS? People are typically diagnosed in their twenties and thirties, with the average age of diagnosis being only 30. Interestingly three times more women are affected by MS than men and it is more common in cooler climates. In Australia, over 23,000 people currently have MS, however this figure is increasing as diagnosis methods become more advanced. What are the typical symptoms of MS? Symptoms of MS are unpredictable and change from person to person, and from time to time in the same person. Some of the symptoms of MS may include: tiredness blurry vision loss of balance and muscle coordination slurred speech difficulty walking short-term memory loss tingling and numbness or in severe cases tremors

{seventeen} Finished

Just in case you were wondering Hubby finished his model. Aden has been having a few problems with 'the dark' at night so Daddy let him have the Army Tank in his room to protect him from 'the dark'. Seems to be doing the trick Thanks Daddy!

{sixteen}32

Despite the fact that I turned 32 today...I still feel like I'm in my mid 20's....time to start the anti-wrinkle cream I think! I helped Aden to make some brown cupcakes as you must have a candle to blow out on your birthday! {fifteen}241 Tote

Image
Back blogging...... I bought and downloaded a few bags patterns when I couldn't find the type of bag I wanted to buy the other week. So I decided to make myself one today. A '1-day' bag with all the interruptions of general life...gotta be happy with that! This is the 241 Tote by Noodlehead There is a great review on Sew Sweetness  and I loved that she made a 'little' version as I had the same idea for Christmas presents for my sweet little nieces! When my pattern printed from the computer the test 1 inch square was measuring slightly smaller then it should of but I forged ahead anyway! I also went without the magnetic closure as I didn't have one to use. I thought it was going to be bigger than what it turned out and was slightly disappointed...however since using the bag all of this week for shopping trips, dragging it to work and walking 10kms with it ...more on that later...it is just the perfect size! My regularly carried items w
